Dog fostering is a wonderful and rewarding way to help save dogs. Wilkes Rescue Group (WRG) does not have a facility to keep dogs, so we rely on people to open up their homes to a rescue dog. Fostering means that you provide a safe environment, care for and learn about the dog while it is staying with you. WRG pays for all medical care, can help with supplies and will board the dog while you are out of town.
We don’t want to make it seem like it is totally void of cost, we will need you to invest your time. We work very hard to make sure that you are supported during the fostering process. WRG does the work to get the dog adopted, we will post the dog on Petfinder, write social media posts and review the adoption applications. We may ask you to speak with the applicants to share what you have learned about the dog.
Worried about becoming a “Foster Fail?” We say there is no such thing! Any dog that finds its forever loving home is a success.
If you do fall in love with your foster, you will get first right of refusal when an applicant comes along. Have specific questions about fostering? Reach out to us and we will be glad to answer any questions that you have.
