A new initiative of Wilkes Rescue Group
WHAT
Wilkes Rescue Groupās new initiative, āOff the Chain,ā will work with current dog owners with outdoor dogs who are chained or tethered to help provide adequate, safe, and humane outdoor living for their dogs. This is done by providing kennels or fencing, dog houses, wood shavings, food, and other necessities.

WHY
Every dog deserves to live a life of comfort and dignity. This project also helps pet owners to keep their dogs while providing a safe and humane outdoor living space.
WHO
Dog owners will apply to be considered for the program.
*Pet owners must be willing to receive assistance and fill out the application. Eligibility and other requirements apply.
HOW

THE DETAILS and ELIGIBILITY:
Qualifying families* apply to receive a 10x10x6 kennel (or fencing), dog house, wood shavings, and other supplies.
Someone from WRG will come out to assess the best place for the kennel (or fencing) to be placed. WRG can also provide assistance with setup if needed.
*To qualify for Off the Chain, you must be 21 years of age or older and a Wilkes County resident, ID will be required to verify this. Additionally, you must provide a Medicaid or EBT card OR two most recent pay stubs showing an annual income. You must be either eligible to receive Medicaid or EBT, OR have a household income of $35,000 per year or less (dependent on household family size).Ā
